In order to meet all requirements, OpenSCADA® consists of modules that can be assembled variably, ranging from stand-alone solutions to redundant integrated solutions for large-scale plants without trading security or clarity in return.

Using the OpenSCADA® system SASS Process can be employed on all Java-enabled platforms like Windows, MacOS X or Linux. Both 32 and 64 bit architechtures are optimally supported. OpenSCADA® and SASS Process can both be employed as integrated modules, e.g. in an MES system, or as standalone solutions.

OpenSCADA® supports all commonly used databases. SASS provides an additional interface to SAP, which enables to import and export business data.

The open communication interface enables a free choice of the communication protocol used to address and control vendor independent different automation systems on the plane of field, subsystems and field devices by OpenSCADA®. Based on the open communication interface, monitoring of business processes is also possible. OpenSCADA® also provides an intuitive, easy-to-use graphical user interface, which can be used locally or via the internet, which supports the user of solutions based on OpenSCADA® in all occuring tasks.
